Meinl Byzance B14EDMH Extra Dry Medium Hi-hats
General
If you see the Byzance logo on a Meinl cymbal, it's safe to assume that it's a cymbal with its own unique sound. These cymbals are not mass produced, but lovingly and individually hand-crafted in Meinl's facility in Turkey, the motherland of the cymbal making industry. The B14EDMH hi-hats are a pair of 14-inch Byzance hi-hats made of B20 bronze, which consists of 80% copper and 20% tin, guaranteeing optimal durability and a stable, consistent sound.
Meinl Byzance B14EDMH: extra crispy
Don't be startled by their unusual appearance - we know, these hi-hats look like they've been left in the toaster for too long. That dark look simply stems from their unlathed, dry finish. Furthermore, the bottom cymbal is quite a bit heavier than the top cymbal, giving you a very well-defined stick response, while also allowing you to produce a heavy, dry pedal chick. Overall, these hi-hats have a modest volume, but a rich and ominous character with relatively short sustain. The B14EDMH does not produce ear-shattering trebles, but compensates for that with a beautiful array of lower frequencies.
